Tranquil Water | Original Mixed-Media Painting

Tranquil Water is a small panoramic landscape painted across four separate canvas panels, set side by side in a single wooden frame. The panels read as one scene, like looking out through a window with mullions. A cove of bright blue water sweeps through all four, with a small, rounded island at the center. On the far left and right, stands of evergreens lean in from the shore, and the island carries its own small cluster of pines.

The trees are built from short, layered strokes of leaf green and moss, and touches of gold paint catch the light along their branches. The shoreline is dark olive and earth brown, edged in a ribbon of deep cobalt where land meets water.

The water and sky are the heart of the piece. They are sprayed in soft sky blue, periwinkle, and white, then spattered so the surface looks flecked with light, like sun sparkling on ripples or spray in the wind. Streaks of deeper blue lie across the water in short horizontal dashes, and a few faint silver birds cross the sky at the upper left. Small, bubbled pools of white add a lively, glassy texture, and the glossy coating over the surface makes the water shimmer as you move past it.

The four panels sit in a rustic wooden frame, stained a soft gray-brown with a darker inner border. Thin dark dividers run between the canvases like window bars. Together they make a quiet, open view that you can read at a glance or study panel by panel.

At 10" × 24⅛", it is a good fit for a mantel, a hallway, a bathroom, or the wall above a console, and its blues and greens bring in a cool, calm freshness.
