Winter doesn't always arrive as silence. Sometimes it arrives as a pattern.
Winter's Tapestry is a small, quietly inventive landscape. Across the whole canvas, horizontal bands of cobalt, navy, sky blue, violet, and slate gray stripe a white ground like woven threads. They read as sky, snow, and the glint of frozen water, and soft smudges of gray drift through them like low cloud.
Rising from the lower right, a gray hillside carries a stand of evergreens. Their silhouettes are drawn in fine black marker, in jagged, feathered zigzags that suggest branches heavy with cold. The trees fade as they recede, so a dusky treeline sits behind the nearer pines. Tufts of dark grass poke through the snow along the foreground, a pale ridge of white and lavender edges the bottom, and three small flocks of birds cross the sky, drawn in quick black strokes.
The stripes and the landscape never quite settle. The scene is clearly a place, but the horizontal bands run through it as if the weather itself were a fabric. That is what makes it feel like a tapestry: calm and structured, yet always a little in motion.
At just 8" × 10", it is a quiet piece for a desk, a shelf, or a small wall, where it can offer a moment of stillness.
