Constellation in Rust | Original Acrylic Painting

A map of a place no one has charted, drawn over old stone.

Constellation in Rust is a small, tall abstract painting that looks like a rusted surface seen under frost. The ground is dabbed and stippled in layers: umber, chocolate brown, terracotta, burnt sienna, and muted gold. A veil of chalky white sits over the top, so the dark paint breaks into flecks and islands and the weave of the canvas shows through everywhere. It reads as weathered stone, oxidized metal, or lichen on a rock face.

Across it, thin straight lines run at sharp angles and cross one another. They are painted in burnt orange, deep crimson, and black, and they stay clean and exact against the rough surface. Some run in parallel pairs, and some meet in an X near the lower right, so the whole thing feels like a survey map, a star chart, or the traces of old rail lines.

Scattered over the canvas are tiny three-dot clusters, each one a small triangle of dots. They come in white, ochre gold, maroon, and deep green. They appear across the surface at random, and they read like constellations, coordinates, or berries on a branch. They are the quietest marks in the painting, and they give the eye places to land.

Rough against precise, earthy against celestial: that tension is the whole idea. Nothing in it is loud. It is a painting that rewards a long look and a step closer.

At 24" × 20", it is a strong fit for an entryway, an office, or a living room, and its warm earth tones sit comfortably with wood, leather, and natural linen.

For collectors who love textured, earthy abstraction with a quiet geometry.
