BOLD TENSION
Some paintings arrive like weather. Bold Tension is the moment before the storm breaks, and the moment just after, held in a single, unresolved breath.
The ground is charcoal, slate, black and pale silver-grey, worked thick and swirling, smeared and marbled into something that feels less applied than survived. It gathers darkest at the upper left and the lower right, two heavy weights pulling against each other. Between them, at center-left, the surface is scraped lighter, a pale clearing in the gloom where the eye finally finds a place to breathe.
Then the crimson. Long, parallel slashes fall from the upper right toward the lower left, each one a decisive stroke, some edged with drips and jagged breaks where the color refused to stay contained. They do not decorate the storm. They cut it. This is restrained violence: every line deliberate, every wound beautifully kept.
Thin white lines trail across the darkness. Some run straight down, then curve as they fall. Others branch outward like cracks, like veins, like lightning caught mid-strike, fragile and electric against the heavy ground.
And through the left and center, delicate gold: small wandering squiggles and fine, wavering threads, like veins of metal or hairline fractures where light is trying to get through. They are the quietest voice in the composition, and perhaps the most tender.
This is a painting about what holds when everything is under strain. It is turbulent, yet composed. Damaged, yet luminous. For the collector who understands that tension is not the opposite of beauty but one of its truest forms, Bold Tension offers a surface to return to again and again, and to find something new in every time.
