0515: What Liddy Said | Mixed-Media Original Painting

"When the words of someone you love destroys you, do you ever fully recover?"

Some wounds don't leave marks you can see. They settle in quietly and reshape everything from the inside. 0515: What Liddy Said is about that kind of hurt, the kind that arrives in language, from someone whose words were never supposed to cut.

This is a dimensional work unlike anything else in the series. Layers of clear acrylic sheet are mounted over a wooden panel on stainless steel standoffs, so you are looking through one surface and then another. Light slides across the plastic, reflections drift, and the writing shifts depending on where you stand. The panel beneath is raw and weathered. Gray, white, and black are scraped downward in long vertical strokes, like paint dragged across wood until it frayed.

Handwriting covers the acrylic in blue and red oil paint marker. The lines overlap and cross, so they are difficult to read all at once. Pieces surface: I loved you with all my heart. Stop playing the victim. I'm just telling you how I feel. The blue and red look like two voices speaking over each other, and it reads as a journal entry, an argument, and a scream at once.

At the center stands a figure drawn in looping red and white lines, horned and curled, wrapped around a column of black block letters. It is part accuser and part ghost. Around the edges, the sequence 0515 loops in red script at the top and bottom, and red circles ring the sides.

0515: What Liddy Said offers no resolution. It offers recognition, and sometimes that is the more profound gift.

A rare, deeply personal work for collectors who want art that meets them in the harder, truer places.
