Urban Constellation | Original Mixed-Media Painting

A city map, a night sky, and a shattered window, all in one frame.

Urban Constellation is a large landscape-format abstract painting with a bold, simple structure. A flat field of terracotta orange fills the edges of the canvas. In the center, a jagged, many-pointed shape cuts across it like a fractured star, a torn map, or a shard of broken glass. Its edge is traced in a thin, confident dark line.

Inside that shape, the painting turns deep and moody. Horizontal strokes of slate blue, teal, olive, and mustard gold are dragged across one another, with soft patches of white and pale blue like light on water or a distant sky. Spray paint smokes through it in charcoal clouds and a fine, grainy mist, so the surface moves between smooth, scraped, and speckled. A few small terracotta triangles sit inside the shape like islands or sails, and they echo the orange outside it.

Across the whole canvas, white paint is flicked and splattered in tiny dots and long, thin streaks, like stars, city lights, or scratches in glass. The splatter crosses the line between orange and blue, so the two zones feel connected instead of separate. Dark spray clouds drift over the orange at the upper left and lower right, softening the hard edges.

The contrast does the work: warm against cool, flat against textured, structure against chaos. It reads as a constellation, but also as a city seen from above at night.

At 30" × 40", it has the scale to anchor a living room, an office, or a loft wall. The terracotta orange is warm and modern, and the blues and greens give it depth.
