Solar Eclipse Bloom | Original Acrylic Painting

A flower opens in the dark and the sun goes out in its center.

Solar Eclipse Bloom is a bold, graphic floral painting set against a dark, grainy night. A five-petaled blossom fills the upper left and center of the canvas, painted in warm peach and apricot. Each petal is outlined in heavy bands of burnt orange and sunny yellow, with a thin silver line tracing the inner curve. A crescent of crisp white sits on the edge of each petal, cut with a single sharp black stroke, and small white dots mark the petals like pollen or tiny moons.

At the heart of the flower sits a solid black disc. Around it, fine rust, orange, and pink strands radiate outward like a corona, with tiny white arrows pointing in toward the center. Small brown, arrowhead-shaped stamens, edged in yellow and black, sit on the petals around it. It reads as a total eclipse, with the flower's glow streaming out around the dark.

Across the lower right, the flower breaks down. A rough, gritty mass of black, copper, and bone-white speckle covers the lower petals and spills over the edge of the flower like rock or ash. Bright cobalt-blue flecks dot it, and below it the blue pours down the canvas in long, thin drips that fade into the dark. The background is a grainy field of charcoal and black, with a fine white stipple along the edges that looks like starlight or static.

The contrast is the whole story: warm, smooth, luminous petals against a cold, rough, speckled night. The flower seems to be burning on one side and turning to stone on the other.

At 20" × 16", it has the presence for an entryway, a bedroom, or a dining room. It is the companion piece to Midnight Blossom, and the two hang beautifully as a pair, one warm and one cool, both built around a dark eclipse at the heart of the bloom.

For collectors who love bold botanical abstraction with a cosmic edge.
